Rippex is self-custodial software for the XRP Ledger. These terms set out the licence you receive, what remains your responsibility, and the limits of what software can promise about money you alone control.
These terms govern your download, installation and use of the Rippex Wallet desktop application and of this website. By installing or running the software you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not install or use the software.
Rippex is software, not a financial service. No account is opened with us, no funds are ever deposited with us, and no client relationship of any kind is created by using the application.
Rippex is an open-source desktop client for the XRP Ledger. You are granted a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, copy, study and modify the software in accordance with the licence text distributed with the source code. Where these terms and that licence differ regarding the source code itself, the licence text prevails.
The Rippex name, wordmark and logo are not covered by the code licence. You may not use them to present a modified build as an official release, or in a way that suggests endorsement.
Rippex is non-custodial. Your family seed (the secret key beginning with s) and the passphrase that encrypts your local wallet file are generated and held only on your own device. We have no copy of them, no ability to recover them and no ability to reverse, freeze or refund a transaction you have signed.
You are solely responsible for: keeping an offline backup of your seed; choosing and remembering a strong passphrase; verifying the destination address and, where required, the destination tag before confirming a payment; maintaining the security of the operating system you run the wallet on; and complying with any tax and reporting obligations that apply to you.
Loss of the seed, loss of the passphrase, a payment sent to a wrong address, a deposit sent to an exchange without the required destination tag, and funds taken by malware present on your own machine are all irreversible and are outside our control.
The XRP Ledger is a public, decentralised network operated by independent validators. We do not operate it, do not control its fees or reserve requirements, and cannot guarantee that a transaction will be included in a validated ledger.
The application connects to rippled nodes over a WebSocket connection. Public nodes are operated by third parties under their own terms and availability. You may configure your own node at any time. Network downtime, amendments to ledger rules, changes to reserve amounts, or a node returning incorrect or delayed data are not within our control.
Third-party services you may reach through the wallet — exchanges, gateways, issuers of trust-line assets — are independent of Rippex. Extending a trust line means accepting the credit risk of that issuer.
You must not use Rippex to conduct or facilitate unlawful activity, to interfere with or overload public network infrastructure, to distribute modified builds containing malicious code, or to misrepresent an unofficial build as an official one.
You are responsible for determining whether use of self-custodial cryptocurrency software is lawful in your jurisdiction. Nothing here is an invitation to use the software where it is prohibited.
The website, documentation, guides and blog articles are technical material provided for information only. They are not financial, investment, accounting, tax or legal advice, and they are not a recommendation to acquire or dispose of any digital asset. Digital assets are volatile and you may lose value.
The software is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every operating system version, or free of vulnerabilities. Test with a small amount before moving significant value.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, neither the project, its contributors nor its maintainers shall be liable for any loss of digital assets, loss of keys or passphrases, loss of profits, loss of data, business interruption, or any indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages arising from or connected to the use of, or inability to use, the software.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions. Where that is the case, our liability is limited to the minimum amount permitted by that law.
The software and this website may be updated, changed or discontinued at any time. Releases may add, alter or remove functionality. Because the wallet is non-custodial and the account lives on the public ledger, your funds remain accessible from your seed in any compatible XRP Ledger wallet regardless of what happens to this project.
Your rights under these terms end automatically if you breach them; you may end them at any time by uninstalling the software.
These terms are interpreted under the law of the jurisdiction in which the maintainers operate, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and without limiting mandatory consumer protections available to you locally.
Questions about these terms, and reports of a security issue, should be sent through the project's published contact channel. Never include your secret key, seed or wallet file in any message.
